What actually drives the price
Four things, mostly. Format: private one-on-one lessons cost more per hour than group classes and teach several times faster, which changes the real cost of reaching your goal. Teacher: experienced, accredited teachers cost more than casual instructors, for the same reason experienced anything does. Program versus drop-in: structured programs price the destination, casual classes price the hour. And purpose: an open-ended hobby has a different shape from a wedding dance with a fixed date and a required outcome.
The group class trap
A cheap group class is cheap per hour, not per skill. Progress in a rotating group is set by the room's pace, your questions compete with everyone else's, and correcting a habit you picked up in week two can take a term. Questions worth asking any studio
Who exactly will teach me, and what happens if it is not working? Is this a program with a goal or a class pass with an expiry date? What does progress look like by lesson five? A studio with good answers to those is worth more per dollar than a cheaper one without them, and any studio that cannot answer them is expensive at any price.
