When people say bridal waltz they usually mean the first dance itself, whatever style it turns out to be. But the actual waltz, the one-two-three, remains the most loved first dance there is, because it photographs like a fairytale and, quietly, because it is one of the easiest dances for two nervous non-dancers to learn well.
Will a waltz fit our song?
More often than you would think. True waltzes are written in three-four time, and a surprising number of modern love songs are, or have acoustic versions that flow that way. Bring your song to the free first session and your teacher will tell you straight away whether it waltzes, and if it does not, which dance fits it instead; that is often a rumba, and the plan simply adjusts.
What a wedding waltz program covers
The box step and a graceful turn, an entrance, a dip or a finish pose sized to your confidence, and floorcraft for the actual space you will dance in. All of it is private, just the two of you and your teacher, and all of it is choreographed so it looks like you, not like a routine bolted onto you.
Start earlier than feels necessary
Couples consistently tell us the lessons became the calmest hour of wedding planning, the one appointment that was actually about the two of them. Whatever your timeline, the program is built backwards from your date; if the date is close, be honest with us and read the last minute page first.
