The father and daughter dance is often the moment guests remember longest, and the one that catches everyone by surprise. It does not need to be complicated to be moving. It needs to feel like the two of you.
We prepare fathers and daughters privately at our Rozelle studio, usually over a handful of relaxed lessons. Most fathers arrive having never danced a step, and that is completely normal here.
You do not need to be a dancer
Almost every father who books this has not danced before, and many are quietly dreading it. That is the usual starting point, not the exception.
We build the routine around what feels natural for you, not around steps you have to force. If a simple, elegant sway with two or three turns is what suits, that is what we rehearse until it is second nature.
Choosing the song
Bring the song you already have in mind and we will build around it. If you have not chosen one, we will help you find something that fits the mood you want and the time you have to prepare.
We can also shorten or fade a song so the dance lands at the right length. Around two minutes usually feels right on the day.
How long it takes
Four private lessons is the most common preparation for a father and daughter dance, and it is enough for a confident, polished result. Couples with more time often use six to add detail and rehearse under pressure.
Start earlier if you can. Lessons close to the wedding fill quickly, particularly through spring and autumn.
Visiting the studio
You’ll find us at Level 1/595 Darling Street, Rozelle NSW 2039. Sessions run Monday to Friday from 12:50pm to 8:55pm, with Saturday VIP and private appointments by arrangement.
