It is a few weeks out, the first dance kept sliding down the list, and now it is the only unticked box that involves an audience. Breathe. A calm, focused program can get a never-danced couple to a first dance they are genuinely proud of on a short runway; what changes is the shape of the plan, not the outcome.
What a short-runway program looks like
Triage, in the best sense. Your teacher maps your song in the first session, picks the dance that gets you the most for the least, usually a rumba, and builds a routine from a small number of figures drilled until they are bulletproof, rather than many figures learned shallowly. Sessions are scheduled closer together so nothing decays between them.
Honesty about what fits in the time
How much is achievable depends on the weeks left and your diary, and we would rather tell you the truth in the free first session than promise a spectacle. What we will not do is send you out with something fragile. A simple dance you own completely reads as elegance from the seats; that is the target, and it is reachable later than most couples fear.
If you are reading this early
Lucky you: book sooner and the same preparation happens without the adrenaline. The beginner wedding page and the lesson-count guide are the unhurried versions of this page.
